This workshop is organized by Eric McCready, Lotte Hogeweg and Grégoire Winterstein and is part of ESSLLI 2011. The workshop proposes to collect contributions to the formal description and implementation of discourse particles and modal adverbs as well as experimental investigation into the use and interpretations of such words.The invited speakers are Regine Eckardt and Henk Zeevat. This workshop is the fourth in a series of workshops on discourse particles:

1. The Meaning and Implementation of Discourse Particles, Vienna 2003 (ESSLLI 2003)
2.  Workshop on Formal and Computational Approaches to Discourse Particles, Barcelona 2005
3. Formal and experimental approaches to discourse particles and modal adverbs, Hamburg 2008 (ESSLLI 2008)
